Smart Home Automation
Smart Home Automation is something of an umbrella term, generally used to describe the integration of disparate technology systems – such as lighting control, security or AV – so that one can affect the other.
Simple examples include activating a ‘Welcome’ or ‘Away’ lighting ‘scene’ based on the status of the alarm, disabling the air-conditioning if a window is left open, or ensuring the irrigation system doesn’t operate after rainfall.
More advanced concepts may include multiple systems & sensors. For example, to maximize cooling & heating energy efficiency by combining window & door sensors, blind & louver motors, passive & forced ventilation & heat pump air-conditioning systems to suit ambient temperature & solar radiation levels; or having your music playlist follow you automatically from room to room as you roam the property. The only limitation is your imagination!
